The brief
Expense trackers fail for a boring reason: logging a coffee takes longer than drinking it. The brief was an app where recording a spend is faster than the notification that prompted it.
A personal finance app that turns scattered spending into a clear monthly picture — fast entry, honest categories and a forecast you can actually act on.
The approach
Entry in under three seconds
Quick-add opens on the keypad with remembered categories and smart amounts. Everything else — notes, tags, receipts — is optional and never blocks the save.
Offline-first, sync second
Entries are written to local SQLite immediately and reconciled in the background, so the app works on a train and never shows a spinner while you type.
One number, not a wall of charts
The home screen answers a single question: what is left this month at the current pace. Detail is there when you want it, not before.
What we built
- 01Offline-first ledger with background sync
- 02Recurring transactions and subscription detection
- 03Monthly budgets, categories and pace forecast
- 04CSV import and export with shareable summaries
Outcome
A finance app people keep using past January, because the daily habit costs seconds instead of minutes.
